Lucknow: The streets of Trans-Gomti are alive with devotion and cultural vibrancy as the Badshahnagar community kicks off its grand 70th Durga Puja celebrations. Organized by the Badshahnagar Durga Puja Committee, the festival is being held at the Badshahnagar Recreation Institute within the Northern Railway premises and has already drawn enthusiastic crowds since its inauguration on September 28.
A Legacy of Devotion Since 1956
This year’s celebration marks seven decades of uninterrupted tradition, making it the oldest and most revered Durga Puja in the Trans-Gomti area. The festival has long been a platform for communal harmony, with active participation from local residents, railway employees, and their families, all coming together to honor the goddess.
Pandal Showcases Artistic Fusion
The festival pandal has emerged as a key attraction, beautifully blending Lucknow’s intricate wood carving with the artistic flair of Bengali Alpana. Organizers say the combination reflects the city’s rich cultural heritage while celebrating India’s diversity. Devotees have been flocking to witness the elaborate decor and immerse themselves in the festive spirit.

Grand Celebrations and Devotional Activities
Over the past few days, a series of rituals, cultural performances, and devotional gatherings have set the tone for the celebrations. The festival will continue until October 1, culminating in a grand immersion procession on October 2, when hundreds of devotees will carry the idol of Goddess Durga through the streets amid chants, music, and festivity.
As the 70th Badshahnagar Durga Puja unfolds, the community is not only celebrating devotion but also the artistic and cultural legacy that has endured for generations.
